John K. Perry, 79, of Carbondale, PA., died Thursday afternoon, December 29, 2011 at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. He is survived by his wife the former Joanna van den Blink. They were married July 30, 1955.
Born June 26, 1932 in Trenton, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late Bertie and Harriett Louise Jane (May) Perry.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a welder for the Grumman-Olson plant in Mayfield, PA. He attended the Peckville Christian Missionary Alliance Church and had been a volunteer fireman when he resided in New York State.
He is survived by three sons: Robert W. Perry and wife Suzanne of Ridgefield, NJ., Martin J. Perry of Carbondale, PA. and John Stephen Perry and wife Jessica of Carbondale, PA.; one daughter: Louisa Jane Polach and companion Paul Salvatore of Carbondale, PA.; four grandchildren: Noelle, Scott, Stephen and Samantha; two great grandchildren: Trevor and Jessica; one sister: Margaret Louise Brown of Belleville Ontario Canada; one brother: Norman William Perry of Oshawa Ontario Canada; nieces and nephews; two cousins: Jimmy and Perry Williamson.
He was preceded in death by one son: Andrew R. Perry; one brother: Edward Albert Perry.
The funeral was held Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. James Culver, pastor of the Peckville Christian Missionary Alliance Church, officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA.
Pallbearers: Robert Perry, Martin Perry, John Perry, Trevor Porcoro, Scott Archer and Stephen Archer. Friends called Monday, January 2, 2012 from 5-8 PM.
