Obituary

John K. Nagle, Sr., 73, of Carbondale, PA., died Sunday evening, October 30, 2011 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, after a lengthy illness. Born June 9, 1938 in Kingston, PA., he was the son of the late Thomas and Ruth King Nagle. He was a 1956 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale and had served with the 109th Infantry of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 329 and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church both of Carbondale. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a insurance adjuster with Eastern Claims in Scranton. He was also an avid fisherman. He is survived by one sister: Edith Mayne and husband Richard of Archbald, PA.; two brothers: Thomas Nagle and wife Margie of Barefoot Bay, FL. and Henry Nagle of Simpson, PA.; one brother-in-law: Thomas Waldsmith of Tucson, AZ.; one granddaughter: Ondrea Nagle of Florida; several nieces and nephews; a special friend whom he thought of as a son: Jode Cosgrove and family of Carbondale, PA. He was preceded in death by one son: John Nagle, Jr.; one sister: Darlia Waldsmith. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor. Inurnment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were made to the donor's favorite charity.
