John F. Konosky, 69, of Carbondale, PA., died Sunday morning, December 6, 2009 at the Ascera Care Hospice, Peckville, PA. He was the husband of the former Florence A. Gates. They were married 42 years. Born October 19, 1940 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late John and Katherine (Rotell) Konosky. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and received a master's degree from Middle Tennessee State University. For many years he had been employed as the business teacher at Sacred Heart High School in Carbondale. Prior to his recent retirement, he had been employed as a case worker for Lackawanna County Children and Youth for the past 15 Years. He was an army veteran having served with the military police from 1959-1962 and was a member of the VFW Post 4904 of Nanticoke, PA and St. Mary's Visitation Church in Dickson City, PA.He is survived by one daughter: Florence C. Konosky of Milan, Italy; two brothers: Ronald Konosky of Carbondale, PA. and Paul Konosky of Scott Township, PA.; nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by two sisters: Alberta Vilella and Louise Cicio.A blessing service was held Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. Andrew Gallia, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Louie Rompre, Paul Konosky, Jr., Jamie Orven and David Oakley.
