John T. "Sonny" Katchmore, 80, of Great Bend, PA, died Monday, February 13, 2023 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after an illness.

Born January 15, 1943 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late John and Marion Campolo Katchmore.

Sonny was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964. He had been employed for over 25 years by US Airways and later operated his own security business. He was a member of the Hallstead-Great Bend American Legion Post 357. Sonny was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing trips especially to New York State and Canada. He will be remembered as a dedicated friend who was always available to help anyone in need. Sonny cherished his many friendships but special thanks is extended to his good friends, John McCarthy and Nick and Jen Anderjak for all of their care and support.

He is survived several family members.

A Blessing service was held Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA.

Viewing hours were held Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 5-7 p.m.
