John M. Jack Harrity, age 53, of Carbondale, PA., died early Saturday morning, September 25, 2010 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. His wife is the former Diane DeGrazia.
Born March 28, 1957 in Scranton, PA., he was the son of the late Paul J. and Shirley (Coleman) Harrity.
He was a 1975 graduate of West Scranton High School and worked as the Carbondale Area High School Football Team Equipment Manager for several years. He was also the Equipment Manager for the Scranton Eagles from 1985 to 1989. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Florida Gators, Indianapolis Colts and Mark Martin in Nascar. He also enjoyed fishing and was happiest on the field with his boys. He will be greatly missed by his family and his dog Jack.
He is survived by one step son: Daniel S. DeGrazia of Carbondale, PA.; three sisters: Maureen Williamson and husband Lew of Scranton, PA., Paula Manley and husband Joseph of Scranton, PA. and Patricia Jennings-Fowler and husband Michael of Scranton, PA.; two nieces and twelve nephews; one great nephew and one great niece; aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Vincent P. Harrity.
The funeral was held Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. William D. Campball, senior priest. Cremation followed at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
Honorary Pallbeares: Carbondale Area Football Team and Coaching Staff.
Pallbearers: Michael Quinn, Paul Williamson, Chris Jennings, Anthony Carachilo, John Lasavage, J.J. Perri and Robert Matoushek.
