Obituary

John Robert Dalickas, 83, South Gibson, PA, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at home. The last few weeks of his illness, his wife, Delores, daughter, Amy and grandson, John were with him. Born in Scranton, PA, son of the late Anthony and Nellie Sadonis Dalickas, he was a 1954 graduate of Central High School. He served in the Army, 574th Transport Division for four years stationed in England and Germany. Upon returning home, John drove truck for Feibus Gordon and DeFazio Express. He always took the short runs so he could be home with his family every night and weekend. When DeFazio closed, he worked for Reich, Fisher and Parry. His career ended after 40 years of accident free driving. He was incredibly proud of the home he created for his family and passed on his vast knowledge of nature to his daughter and grandsons. He loved his family, his home, and hunting and fishing. Before he passed, he got to celebrate his grandson, Joseph graduating from Ithaca College and his grandson, John starting 6th grade. His family would like to thank Dr. Louis Kareha and his staff for their many years of care; Meadow View Nursing Home of Montrose for their understanding and help with window visits during the pandemic; Traditional Healthcare and Hospice for their guidance and compassion; and the Clifford Township Fire Company and Ambulance for their service. Surviving are two brothers, Alexander of Scranton, PA and Walter and wife, Ruth of Boca Raton, FL; a number of nieces and nephews; his wife of 48 years, Delores Klem Dalickas; his daughter, Amy; and grandsons, Joseph and John Nally.
