John A. Ted Coble, age 85, of Williamsport, PA., died Friday evening, January 28, 2011 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was preceded in death by his first wife Martha LeGrand in 1976 and his second wife Connie Shaffer in 1988.
Born August 9, 1925 in Winburne, Clearfield County, PA., he was the son of the late Albert S. and Nellie (Snedden) Coble.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. Ted retired from Axeman-Anderson and had been a caretaker at the Dunwoody Fish Game Club. He was a member of Heshbon United Methodist Church, the VFW Post #7863 of Duboistown, and the Bendigo Hunting Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by one daughter: Audrey J. Harris and husband Wayne M. of Wyoming, PA.; two grandsons: Jeff Harris and wife Judy of Trout Run, PA. and Matthew Harris of Hyde Park, NY.; one great granddaughter: Molly Harris; two sisters: Diane Daubney of Tennessee and Audrey Lisik of Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Richard, Lee and Henry Coble.
The funeral was held Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at 2:00 PM from Sanders Mortuary, LTD., 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport, PA. Interment with military honors accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County, Montoursville Cemetery, Montoursville, PA.
Friends called Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 1:30-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Local arrangements were under the care of the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA.
