Obituary

John G. Bean, 90, of Clifford Township, PA., died Monday afternoon, February 11, 2013 at home. He is survived by his wife of 63 years the former Marian A. Button. Born in Uniondale, PA., he was the son of the late Jesse and Muriel Stevens Bean. He operated a dairy farm in Union Dale, PA. for many years and also had a milk route where he delivered fresh milk to homes in the Clifford area. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of the Clifford United Methodist Church and was a social member of the Elk Mountain VFW, Post 8488 in Kingsley, PA. He enjoyed music, dancing and shooting pool. He took great pride in his lawn and loved cutting his grass on his John Deere lawn tractor. He was also an avid hunter. On October 31st he celebrated his 90th birthday with a large party given to him by his family. He is survived by four sons: David Bean and wife Laurie of Clifford Township, PA., Bobby Bean and wife Karin of Harford, PA., Larry Bean and wife Mary Ann and Kenny Bean and wife Patty all of Forest City, PA.; three daughters: Mary Lou Whitmore and husband Steve of Starlight, PA., Patti Megivern and husband John of Clifford Township, PA. and Darlene Hartwick of Greenfield Township, PA; 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons: Tommy and Duane Bean; three sisters: Betty Snell, Louise Wood and Fern Kaminski. The funeral was held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the Clifford United Methodist Church, 34 Main Street, Clifford, PA., with Pastor Peg Knapich, officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA. Friends called Friday, February 15, 2013 from 2-4 7-9 PM at Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA. and Saturday from 10:00 till 11:00 AM at the church.
