John Leo Acquisto, Sr., age 83, of Pocono Summit, PA. and formerly of Carbondale, PA., died Thursday July 10, 2008 at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, PA. His wife was the former Mary A. Bianco who died June 25, 1979.
Born June 25, 1925 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Sam and Beatrice (Spatfore) Acquisto.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a bottler for 38 years for Stephen Brothers Dairy in Carbondale where he also retired from. He later worked at Gentex in Simpson, PA., for 2 years and was also a security guard for 7 years at Precision Rolled Products in Florham Park, NJ. He was a member of the Elks Club in Parsippany, NJ. and was an avid New York Yankees fan and most of all loved spending time with his family, especially the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Jenna Marie. He is survived by one son: John L., Jr. and wife Mary Anne Acquisto of Pocono Summit, PA.; one granddaughter: Jenna Marie Acquisto of Pocono Summit, PA.; three sisters: Doris Palmiero of Kenmore, NY., Ann Sekelsky of Port Richey, FL. and Lillian Jadeszko of Parsippany, NJ.; one brother: Sam Acquisto of Port Richey, FL.; Several nieces nephews; Several grand nieces nephews He was preceded in death by one brother: Peter A. Acquisto; two sisters: Jennie Donise and Artie Acri. The funeral was held Monday, July 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by the Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment with Military Honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Robert Bianco, Jerry Martines, Al Donelson, Francis Jadeszko, Vincent Acquisto and Louis Crocker.
