JoAnn M. Liuzzo, 62, of Carbondale, PA., died Monday morning, January 22, 2007 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Liuzzo, who died December 25, 2003.
Born October 13, 1944 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of Florence (Tokarchick) Vaverchak, of Carbondale and the late Hurbert Vaverchak.
She owned and operated Liuzzo's Body Shop in Carbondale along with her husband and family. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale.
She loved spending time with her family and loved her pets. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and gardening and was especially proud of her flowers. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by one daughter: Jennifer Colachino and husband Danny of Nicholson, PA.; two sons: Rick Liuzzo and wife Blenda of Greenfield Township, PA. and Jeff Liuzzo and wife Tricia of Carbondale, PA.; one sister: Fran Williams of Jermyn, PA.; three grandchildren: Dominique Liuzzo, Tyler and Danny Colachino; one niece: Mary Ellen Condron.
The funeral was held Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by the Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
A viewing for family members was held Wednesday, January 24, 2007 from 6-8 PM
Pallbearers: Dr. Neil Davis, Thomas Makosky, Mark Hanichak, Joseph Cassaro, Gene Connor, James Connorton, Joseph and Kevin Liuzzo.
