Joan Tochelli, 90, of Carbondale, PA., died Friday night, August 20, 2010 at the Ascera Care Hospice, Peckville, PA., after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Fiore Tochelli. Born in Austria, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Joseffa (Gebhart) Vymlatil. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, gardening, berry picking and telling stories of her life in Austria. She was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. The family would like to extend special thanks to Mary Ann for all her caring and support over the past year. They would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of Home Health Care Professionals and Hospice, especially Jennifer, Gail, Maria, Carly and Sister Karen for their amazing support these last three weeks. She is survived by one son: Harold Tochelli and wife Sandy of Ohio.; two granddaughters who loving cared for her: Cathy Tochelli and companion Rikk of Simpson, PA. and Angie Curtis and husband Bobby of Carbondale, PA.; a nephew: Wilheln Steiner of Austria; a godson: Tom Cerene of Archbald, PA. She was preceded in death by one grandson: Jonathan Tochelli; one sister: Wilhelmina Steiner. A blessing service was held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 8:00 PM in the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. Russell E. Motsay, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, officiating. Cremation followed.
