Joan L. Miles, 76, of Scranton, PA, died April 25, 2021 at Regional Hospital, Scranton. Born June 30, 1944 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Beers Miles. Joan was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and retired as the fleet safety director from Wise Snacks, Berwick, PA. She worked in the trucking industry most of her life. She was a source of love, support and guidance for her family and all who knew her. Joan was an independent person who was not afraid of any challenge from flying a plane to pouring concrete. She loved travelling to the beach and spending time with family. She is survived by her best friend of 57 years, Flossie Sibio Profka, with whom she resided; four sisters: Eleanore Mizenko, Marilyn Jenkins, Jacquelyn Hnatko, and Judy Nordmark;two brothers: Billy Miles and Bruce Miles; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Suzanne Brown, and a nephew, David Jenkins. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Basilica, 1250 St. Ann's Street, Scranton, PA. Friends called from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangement were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
