Joan M. Kohut, age 75, of Simpson, PA., died late Friday evening, February 5, 2010 at the Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA. Her husband is Michael Kohut. They were married May 6, 1967. Born November 12, 1934 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Hart) Pfieffer. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by one son: Michael G. Kohut and wife Melissa of Simpson, PA.; one grandson: Bruce Kohut of Simpson, PA.; one sister: Ruth Grandinetti of Dover, NJ.; two nephews. She was preceded in death by one aunt: Katherine Kitty Hart, who was like a second mother to Joan. The funeral was held Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, PA., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, PA., celebrated by Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Thomas and Joseph Grandinetti, nephews. Friends called Tuesday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the funeral home.
