Jerome P. Brennan, 66, Carbondale, PA., died Sunday morning, August 25, 2013 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA., after an illness. Born October 8, 1946 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Jerome M. and Catharine M. Gaffney Brennan. He was a 1964 graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale. He received his bachelor's degree in English from the University of Scranton and a master's degree in education from Marywood College. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a 6th grade and title 1 math teacher for the Susquehanna Community School District for 34 years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale where he served as a Eucharist Minister. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Columbia Hose Company and the Trinity Club all of Carbondale. He enjoyed meeting every morning with his close friends from their breakfast club. He was very proud of his two daughters and his life revolved around them. He is survived by two daughters: Catharine and Mary Brennan and their mother: Paula Zrowka Brennan all of Browndale, PA.; several cousins He was preceded in death by one brother: John Brennan. The funeral was held Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 10:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor, Rev. Ronald MacKinney, S.J., Rev. Richard Malloy, S.J. and Rev. Brian J.T. Clarke. Interment, St. Rose Cemetery, Carbondale. Pallbearers: Joseph Zrowka, Richard Yusavitz, Jerry Tolerico, Robert Bifano, Ralph Imbalzano, Jordan Marsh, Joseph Martines and Jason Marsicano. Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the St. Rose High School, Class of 1964. Honor Guard provided by the Columbia Hose Company and the Knights of Columbus.
