Obituary

Jeffrey D. Burns, 63, of Clifford, PA, died on February 20, 2025 at his home.

Born in Langhorne, PA, Jeff was a former long-time resident of Newtown, PA, before moving to Elk Mountain.

Jeff is a graduate of Council Rock High School and Mercer County Community College with his degree in Fire Science. Jeff's career started at the New Jersey Treasury Department of Emergency Management in1986 and was held for 32 years and 5 years with FEMA. He also was the State of New Jersey Fire Marshall for 30 years.

Jeff is a lifelong member of the Church of St. Andrew, Newtown, a longtime member of the Newtown Fire Association, the Lingohocken Fire Co., Fire Marshall for Upper Makefield Township, a member of Defiance Lodge, #335 Knights of Pythias. Jeff was an instructor at Bucks Co. Emergency Services Training Center. He enjoyed skiing, golf, biking, hunting, traveling, sporting events and spending time with his family and friends.

Jeff is the son of the late James David Burns, II. and Marjorie A. Steele Burns and brother of the late Jonathon Daniel Burns.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law: Sarah and William Airgood; his grandchildren: Vivian, Jordan, Preston and Devin Airgood. Jeff is the brother of David (Maria) Burns, Joan (Frank) Zeigler and uncle to Debbie Zeigler, Kristi Dawicki-Zeigler, Brian Zeigler, Melissa Terry and David Burns. He is also survived by his aunt: Barbara Steele and partner Lisa Ford Copenhaver; numerous great nieces and nephews, and his dog Bella and grand-dog Jasmine.

Relatives and friends were invited to Jeff's Life Celebration on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Swartz Givnish Funeral Home, 323 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA, and to his Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Olde Church of St. Andrew, 125 S. Sycamore Street, Newtown, PA. Interment, parish cemetery.

Cremation arrangements by Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
