Obituary

Jeanne Louise Homick, 93, of Crystal Lake, PA, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, September 23, 2017. Born September 19, 1924, daughter of the late Carlo and Mary Oliveri, she was raised in Carbondale and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. She joins in heaven her brothers Alex (and his wife Helen), Angelo, Frank and Joseph Oliveri, alongside her beloved husband, her "honey," Stephen George Homick, who passed away in 1987. Jeanne started her career as a chef at Chalfonte-Haddon Hall in Atlantic City with her husband before returning home to Carbondale where they both became longtime chefs at Oliveri's Crystal Lake Hotel. She had many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, residing both in the United States and in Great Britain, and she will forever be "Aunt Jeanne" to countless others including family friends and the many people she worked with in the kitchen through the years. She was well known as a passionate sports fan, most notably for her New York Yankees and Rafael Nadal. Jeanne was exceedingly generous, caring, sweet, passionate, selfless and loyal. Her spirit will forever live on in our many hearts. She is survived by her sister, Mary Talarico, her brother, Stephen Oliveri (and his wife Fern) and her sister-in-law, Palmina Oliveri, all of Crystal Lake, PA, sisters-in-law, Louise Oliveri of Bronx, New York, and Janet Oliveri of Carbondale, PA. Jeanne's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Geisinger Medical Center and the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care. The funeral was held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Paul Fontanella, assistant pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Beverly Oliveri, Michele Oliveri, Nicole Oliveri, Franco Oliveri, Patrick Oliveri, Todd Schweyer, Jack Curtis and Richard Rizzo. Jeanne's family received friends on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations were sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive.
