Jean Ruth Glasser Benson, 79, of Olyphant, PA., died Saturday morning, October 29, 2011 at Regional Hospital of Scranton, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late Thomas F. Benson, Sr., who died February 14, 2010. Born August 1, 1932 in Newark, NJ., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Olga Nowakiewicz Glasser. She and her beloved husband are finally together in Heaven holding hands looking down on us as always. She will be dearly missed by all. She touched a lot of hearts and was always there for her children. She was a stay at home mom, grandma and great grandma. She enjoyed going to the casino and shopping. She loved her dog Mr. Pepper and attended St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, PA. The family would like to thank everyone at Scranton Regional Hospital and Lackawanna Ambulance for their caring assistance with Jean. She is survived by seven children: Barbara Swartz and husband Stanley of Simpson, PA., Joyce Coyle and husband Patrick of Carbondale, PA., Thomas F. Benson, Jr. of Scranton, PA., Doreen George of Olyphant, PA., Roxanne Goussen of Carbondale, PA., Harold Benson with whom she resided with in Olyphant, PA. and Jennifer Benson of Olyphant, PA.; 15 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Helen, Ruby, Gloria and Frank, all of New Jersey; one great granddaughter: Marissa Jones. The funeral was held Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 8:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, assocaite pastor. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Jessup, PA. Honorary Pallbearers: Leo Goussen and Harold Benson. Pallbearers: Brian Lamolbe, Todd Clark, Stanley Swartz, Michael Benson, Thomas Benson, Jr. and Partick Coyle. Friends called Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 4-8 PM.
