Jayne S. Manzer, of South Gibson, PA, passed into the arms of her Lord as she completed her earthly journey and returned to her heavenly Father on May 7, 2015
Born in Port Jervis, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jay and Mabel Ryder Schroeder of Matamoras, PA.
She was a graduate of Delaware Valley High School and Mansfield University. During her professional life, Jayne was an Elementary Educator with the Blue Ridge School District, prior to her retirement. She was a 43 year member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a past president of the Alpha Zeta Chapter and a current member of the Beta Rho Chapter. She served as president of the Louise Bache Women's Club of New Milford and was a member of St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Jackson. She volunteered as a reading teacher with the literacy council of Susquehanna County and was also a substitute elementary teacher and worked at the Mountain View Elementary School as a volunteer aid for challenged children.
Jayne was a people person who loved being with people and having good conversation. She had excellent baking skills and her delicious treats earned her many Blue and Red ribbons from the Harford Fair Baked Goods Department. Any mistakes were relished treats for her husband, the dogs and the cats that populated the farm.
She is survived by her husband: Boyd Manzer; a daughter: Sarah Manzer and companion Bill Merritt all of South Gibson, PA; sister's-in-law: Linda Hay and husband Phillip of Andover, KS and Margaret "Markie" Pratt of Brooklyn, PA; nieces: Cannice and David Decker and Kerri and Andrew Ault; nephews: Scott Hay and Dustin and Rachel Pratt; great nieces and nephew; a surrogate sister: Cheryl Guinther and husband Paul; a surrogate mother: Fannie Colaiaco.
She was preceded in death by a son: T.J. Manzer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. from St. Martin of Tours Church, 8175 SR 492, Jackson, PA, celebrated by Rev. Thomas A. Cappelloni. Interment, Manzer Cemetery, South Gibson, PA.
Friends called Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the service at the church.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
