Jason D. Michalek, 48, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA, died suddenly on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at his residence.

Born April 19, 1978 in Scranton, PA, he is the son of Carol Morcom Michalek of New Milford, PA, and the late Richard E. Michalek.

Jason was a 1996 graduate of Carbondale Area High School where he was a member of the football team and was fondly called "Gang" by his classmates. He was a devoted father to his son, Morgan and proudly watched him graduate high school this past week. Jason raised Morgan as a single parent since he was 4 years old. They shared a special father-son bond and their favorite pastime was gaming.

He is survived by his son: Morgan Delos Michalek of Carbondale, PA; two brothers: Richard Michalek and wife, Marie of Carbondale, PA, and Scott Michalek and wife, Kim of Greenfield Township, PA; a niece: Attorney Kaitlyn Michalek and wife, Dr. Kaitlin Fletcher; and a nephew: Dylan Michalek.

A private service was held at the Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA, by Rev. Donald Perry.
