Janet M. McMyne, 95, of Ewing, NJ, formerly of McCabe Avenue, Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. McMyne, a former Mayor of Carbondale, who died on August 4, 1992.
Born December 23, 1921 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late C. Wesley Baker and the late Louise Brownell Baker-Powderly. She was the step daughter of the late Roland Powderly.
Janet was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Ewing NJ.
She is survived by one daughter: Patricia Voorhees and husband Tom of Ewing, NJ, with whom she resided; two sons: James McMyne and wife Donna of Carbondale, PA and Joseph McMyne of Kissimmee, FL; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sons: Thomas and Francis McMyne; a grandson: Dylan McMyne; two brothers: Edgar and Duane Baker.
The funeral was held Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. from Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. James Price, C.P., pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: James,II., James, III., Rosemary, David, Timothy and Donald McMyne.
