J anet S. Belcher, 82, of Union Dale, PA, died Tuesday morning, February 25, 2025 at home under the care of hospice. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Franklin Belcher, Sr.
Born September 11, 1942 in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Reba Welch Bennett. Janet grew up in rural community of South Waverly in Bradford County and graduated from Sayre High School. She later attended Virginia Western Community College. Janet retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad where she was a senior dispatcher for over 20 years. During her retirement, she was an avid genealogist and author of several books on local history and genealogy. Janet was considered a master crocheter and knitter having crafted many intricate designs.
She is survived by three children: Nikki Jordan and husband, Tommy, Brian Brotherton and wife, Allie and Janelle Parrack and husband, Jeff; four step-children: Frances Compton and husband, James, Melissa Berish and husband, Stephen, Franklin Belcher, Jr., and Jennifer MacAvoy and spouse, Susan; five grandchildren: Brian, Jr., Joshua, Tayor, Ashley and Trent; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister: Eunice; a brother: Jack; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Eleanor and June; and eight brothers: Jay, Dale, Harold, Darwin, Billy, Gene, Jerry and Kenneth.
As per Janet's request there will be no funeral services. She will be buried in the spring with her family at the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
