James J. Rosemellia, 74, of Chittenango, NY., died Monday morning, February 25, 2010 at Stone Hedge Health and Rehabilitation in Chittenango, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the former Mary Ann Vadala. They were married August 31, 1957. Born May 14, 1935 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Pasquale and Clara (Greto) Rosemellia. He had resided in the Syracuse, New York area for the past 48 years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and was a veteran of the Marine Corps. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a supervisor by the Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, New York. After his retirement, he was very proud of the fact that he attained his motor coach license and drove tour buses for Jim Lynch Tours in Greenfield Township, Pennsylvania and Birnie Bus Service in Clinton, New York. He is survived by five sons: James Rosemellia of Orlando, FL., Carmen Rosemellia of Chittenango, NY., Jerry Rosemellia of Syracuse, NY., Patrick Rosemellia of Naples, FL. and Anthony Rosemellia of Syracuse, NY.; three sisters: Joann Vadala of Syracuse, NY., Margaret Novitsky of Allamuchy, NJ. and Clare Fofi of Syracuse, NY.; 13 Grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Cyril, John and Jerry Rosemellia; two sisters: Mary Bowman and Nancy Rosemellia. The funeral was held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 8:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by the Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment with military honors provided by the Simpson VFW, Post 4712 Honor Guard, Calvary Cemetery, Mayfield, PA. Pallbearers: James Rosemellia, Jerry Rosemellia, Michael Rosemellia, Devan Coe, Sean Murphy and Patrick Paricio. Friends called Friday, February 26, 2010 from 4-8 PM.
