James L. Racht, 83, of Carbondale, PA., died Tuesday afternoon, February 3, 2009 at Mallard Meadows Residential Community, Waymart, PA., under the care of Home Health Care and Professional Hospice. He is survived by his wife of 59 years the former Alberta Corrigan.
Born April 25, 1925 in Simpson, PA., he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Greenfield) Racht.He spent his childhood and early adult years living on and working the family farm in South Canaan. He was employed for over 40 years as a mechanic by the S.J. Bailey Furniture Company in Honesdale. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden and around the house. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Dr. W. Davis, Dr. J. Prior and Dr. M. Keuber. They would like to especially thank the staff at Mallard Meadows, Home Health Care and Professional Hospice, Marian Community Hospital and Dr. A. Orehek. He is survived by one son: James L. Racht, Jr. and wife Mary Ann of Carbondale Twp., PA.; one daughter: Dianne Racht of Carbondale, PA.; two granddaughters: Tina Boshman and husband Daniel of Carbondale, PA. and Melanie Demkosky and companion Jeff Connor of Carbondale, PA.; four great grandchildren: Jordan and Alysha Boshman, McKenzie Demkosky and Cameron Connor; several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph and Charles Racht; one sister: Rosemary Hazen.The funeral was held Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 12:00 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Margo Tomlinson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, officiating. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart, PA.Friends called Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
