James Allen Nonnenberg, age 63, of Houtzdale, PA., and formerly of Greenfield Township, PA., died Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Born March 14, 1945 in Greenfield Township, PA., he was the son of the late Henry and June (Uncapher) Nonnenberg. In addition to high school, Jim had training for auto mechanic and drafting at Burgard Vocational School in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from the PA School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. and completed several church related, business and paralegal courses while he was in prison. He enlisted in the Navy where he served as a hospital corpsman. He served in Vietnam and was Honorably Discharged. He had been an auto mechanic, truck driver, service station operator and owned his own garage. He is survived by two sons: James D. Nonnenberg of Jermyn, PA. and David Nonnenberg of Oil City, PA.; one grandson: Ryan; one sister: Carol Hollenbeck of Olyphant, PA.; two brothers: Charles W. Nonnenberg of Silver Lake, NY. and Paul Nonnenberg of Batavia, NY.; several nieces nephews and grandnieces grandnephews.He was preceded in death by one daughter: Donna Nonnenberg; four brothers: Martin, Fred, Oliver and Henry Nonnenberg; one half brother: Harl Nonnenberg.A memorial service with military honors was held Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Tompkinsville United Methodist Church, Tompkinsville, PA., with the Rev. Linda Bryan, pastor, officiating. Inurnment was held at the family plot in the Tompkinsville Cemetery, Tompkinsville.
