James M. Mihalick, 73, of Harford, PA, died Wednesday morning, February 5, 2014 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after a lengthy illness. Born September 6, 1940 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Ella Snyder Mihalick. He was a graduate of Harford High School and was a Navy veteran having served during the Bay of Pigs. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at IBM in Endicott, New York as a quality control inspector. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Harford. In his younger years he was an avid baseball player having played in many local baseball leagues. He had a reputation as an excellent hitter. He is survived by four children: James B. Mihalick and wife Sunny of Palmdale, CA, Pam Jamieson-Poitras and husband Rob of Midhurst, Ontario, Canada; John Mihalick and wife Andrea of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and Trish Sturgess and husband Chris of Innisfil, Ontario, Canada; the mother of his children: Pat Gallan of Innisfil, Ontario, Canada; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister: Joan Meade and husband George. The funeral was held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, with Rev. William Hagenbuch, pastor of the First Congregational Church, Harford, officiating. Interment with military honors, Clifford Valley Cemetery, Clifford, PA.
