James J. Mickel, 49, of Greenfield Township, PA, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA, after a brief illness. His wife is the former Becky MacDonald. They were married on July 5, 2003. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Harold and Stella Molinaro Mickel. Jim attended Lakeland High School and worked for many years as a service technician at Jonal's Lawn and Garden in Greenfield Township. He had been most recently employed as a caretaker at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Jim loved the outdoors and riding his quad. He was a gifted engine repairman and carpenter. He is survived by his children: Crystal Mickel of Moosic, PA, Kimberly Mickel of Avoca, PA, James Mickel, Jr. and Emily Mickel both at home; his step children: Amy Perini-Allan and husband James of Clifford, PA and Kara Perini of Coplay, PA; grandchildren: Matthew Wheeler, Isaac Malinowski and Charles Allan; a sister: Yvette Sangster of Lawrenceville, GA; a brother: David Mickel and wife Robin of Bethlehem, GA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Jeannine Gillott and Paulette Brady; a niece: Lisa Gillott; a nephew: Frank DeAntonio, III. The funeral was held Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA, officiated by Jim's father-in-law, Rev. Charles MacDonald, pastor of the McConkey Church, Grafton, WV. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale, PA. Pallbearers: James Mickel, Jr., James Romano, Glen Black, Jessie Hilbert, Richard Whitelavich, William Bey and Russell Schwartz.
