James G. Jerry McArdle, age 76, a resident of the Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center, Olyphant, PA. and formerly of Hughestown, PA., died Sunday morning, December 19, 2010 at the health care center after a lengthy illness.
Born March 6, 1934 in Hughestown, PA., he was the son of the late William E. and Mary Z. (Hoban) McArdle.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Church, Pittston, PA. and worked as a cutter for Leslie Fay in Wilkes-Barre, PA. for many years. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed taking food to St. Joseph's Children and was also a big Philadelphia Eagle and Notre Dame fan.
He is survived by one sister: Ann McArdle of Hughestown, PA. one brother: Edward and wife Ann McArdle of Rahway, NJ.; two sisters-in-law: Carol McArdle of Duryea, PA. and Mary Agnes McArdle of Rahway, NJ.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: William and Robert McArdle; one sister: Mary Frederick.
A blessing service was held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, PA., with Rev. Thomas J. Maloney, pastor of Our Lady of the Eucharist Church, Pittston, PA., officiating. Interment, St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery, Hughestown.
Friends called Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:00 AM.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA.
