Obituary

James S. Kull, age 45, of Kingston, PA and formerly of Carbondale, PA, died Saturday evening, March 8, 2014 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born May 28, 1968 in Carbondale, PA, he is the son of Joseph Kull, of Carbondale, PA and the late Theresa (Sudlesky) Kull. Jimmy was a 1986 graduate of Carbondale Area High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Penn State University. He was a member of Army where he served as a combat medic. He played high school football and baseball and was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of the Mid Valley Baseball Umpires Chapter and Scranton Chapter of Football Officials. He was a proud democratic veteran helping in the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign and raising money for veterans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his daughter. He is survived by one daughter: Jade Kull of Carbondale, PA; two sisters: Mary Shaughnessy of Lansdale, PA and JoAnne Kull of Carbondale, PA; his former wife: Kristen Kull of Carbondale, PA. He was preceded in death by one brother: Frank Kull. A blessing service was held Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 7:00 pm from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. Joseph Sitko, pastor of St. Mary's Church, Waymart, PA, officiating. Military honors were conducted by the Simpson VFW Honor Guard. Friends called Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations were sent to the family to help with funeral expenses. Memorial Service 7:00 pm Thursday, March 13, 2014 Carmine J. & Louis C.
