James A. Hosie, 83, of Freehold, NJ, died Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ, after an illness.

Born July 26, 1943 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late John A. Hosie and the late Olive Packer Reilly both Carbondale natives.

Jim was a longtime horse farm owner and was also the operator of James Hosie Straw and Hay in Freehold, NJ, for over 50 years.

He is survived by his step children; several cousins and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his sister: Mae E. Scuitier, who died in 2003 and his longtime companion: Katherine Pavlik.

A committal service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, 400 State Route 106, Greenfield Township, PA, with Rev. Boniface Ameyaw, assistant pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale, PA, officiating.
