Obituary

James A. Gigliotti, 75, of Carbondale, PA., died early Thursday morning, November 1, 2007 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA., after an illness. His wife of 51 years is the former Mildred C. Fredo. Born September 23, 1932 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Carmine and Angelina (Cianflone) Gigliotti and the step son of the late Vera Gigliotti. He and his late brother Dominick were the owners of the former Wagon Wheel Bar and Grill in Carbondale. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He was an avid golfer and loved to paint outdoor scenes free hand. He is survived by one son: James C. Gigliotti and wife Linda of Carbondale, PA.; one step son: Jack M. Rude and wife Joann of Gouldsboro, PA.; five grandsons: James T., Marco and Michael Gigliotti all of Carbondale, PA., James W. and Jack W. Rude both of Gouldsboro, PA.; four brothers: John (Butch) Gigliotti of Las Vegas, NV., Carmine Gigliotti of Carbondale, PA., Ernest Colosimo of Jessup, PA. and Eugene Colosimo of Carbondale, PA.; two sisters: Christine Goodnow of North Syracuse, NY. and Carmella Zinga of Syracuse, NY.; Numerous Nieces Nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister: Mary Melnitsky; five brothers: Dominick Gigliotti, Frank, Joseph, Samuel and Ralph Colosimo. The funeral with military honors was held Monday, November 5, 2007 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 5-9 PM. Pallbearers: Carmine Gigliotti, Joseph Dick, Andrew Sisko, Frank Lapera, Harry Newberry and James Moore. Military Honor Guard was provided by Simpson VFW Post 4712.
