Obituary

James M. Cerminaro, age 57, of Carbondale, PA., died early Sunday morning, October 16, 2005 at the Asera Care Hospice Unit at Mid Valley Hospital, Peckville, PA. after a brief illness. His wife is the former Margaret Beattie. Born January 29, 1948 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Antoinette Colandro Cerminaro. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale. He was a 1965 graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale and also earned an Associate Degree at Lackawanna Junior College in Scranton. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force where he also was a K-9 dog trainer and earned the Air Force Commendation Medal. He was the manager of Bond Jewelers located on Main Street in Carbondale for 23 years. He was a former member of UNICO and the Kiwanis Club, both of Carbondale and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a kind, gentle and loving man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by two sons: Michael of Philadelphia, PA. and Matthew of Carbondale, PA.; two sisters: Carmella husband Robert Gerchman of Carbondale, PA. and Jane husband Jack Moran of Pequannock, NJ.; four brothers: Joseph wife Deborah Cerminaro of Boomer, NC., Rosario (Ross) wife Darlene Cerminaro of Jessup, PA., Anthony wife Kathleen Cerminaro of Berwick, PA. and Santo wife Maryann Cerminaro of Carbondale, PA.; Several Nieces Nephews He was preceded in death by one brother: Frank The funeral was held Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor, Monsignor Frederick Farace, STL, retired pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Berwick, PA. and Rev. Hillary Malinowski, pastor of St. Michael's Church, Simpson, PA. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Tuesday, October 18, 2005 from 2-4 6-9 pm. Military Services and Honor Guard provided by Post 4712 Simpson. Honorary Pallbearers: Eric Gerchman, Mark Gerchman, Tom Walsh, Jeff Cerminaro, Anthony Cerminaro, Frank Cerminaro, Dan Vannan (All Nephews) and Dennis Roche (Brother-in-Law). Pallbearers: Matthew Cerminaro (Son), Joseph Scalzo, Ross Cerminaro, Jr., John Severs, Thomas Greg, John Kutchmanich, Victor Ortalano and Tom Capezio.
