James J. Caffrey, Jr., 31, of Carbondale, PA, died Friday, February 17, 2017. Born May 4, 1985 in Carbondale, he is the son of James, Sr. and Karen Merring Caffrey of Carbondale. He was a 2003 graduate of Carbondale Area High School where he played baseball and football. He served in the Army and was currently employed as a machinist at Goulstone and Roberts, Inc., Carbondale. Jim was a avid golfer, enjoyed playing video games and loved playing his guitar. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, and was a former altar boy having served with the late Rev. Michael Pulicare. He is survived by one sister: Brittany Caffrey and companion Zachary of Carbondale, PA; several aunts and uncles; numerous cousins. He was also preceded in death by grandparents: Donald and K. Jane Chapman Merring, and Clayton and Rose Marie Grizzanti Caffrey. The funeral was held Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Paul Fontanella, assistant pastor and Deacon Edward Casey. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Michael Caffrey, Sr., Michael Caffrey, Jr., Joseph Carlo, Joseph Lipko, Vince Turano, Robert Mesko, Adair Chambers.
