Ismael Sosa, age 58, of Carbondale, PA. died Sunday morning, September 7, 2003 with his wife and children by his side after losing a battle with cancer at the VNA Hospice Pallative Care Center of Lackawanna County Inpatient Unit at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. His wife is the former Diane Atkinson.
Born August 14, 1945 in Oriente, Cuba. He was the son of the late Eugenio and Blasita (Soria) Sosa.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a self-employed mason for many years.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes, was a baseball fan and loved wearing many hats. He loved spending time with his family and his many friends and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by four daughters: Diana Cintron, Maria Sosa, Sylvia Sosa and Michele Sosa all of Carbondale, PA.; six sons: Joseph Sosa of Carbondale, PA., Antonio Sosa of Browndale, PA., Dennis Sosa of Waymart, PA., Christopher Sosa of Lake Ariel, PA., Edward Sosa of Honesdale, PA. and Orlando Sosa of Clarks Summit, PA.; two sisters: Nora Sosa of Havana, Cuba and Irma Sosa of Oriente, Cuba; two brothers: Jose Sosa and Vladimir Sosa both of Santiago, Cuba; 10 Grandchildren; Nieces Nephews
He was preceded in death by one brother: Jorge Sosa and one sister: Nellidad Sosa
The funeral was held Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at 10:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with the Rev. Stephen Matylewicz, pastor of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Carbondale, officiating. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart, PA.
Friends called Tuesday, September 9, 2003 from 4-8.
