Irene F. Hampton, age 86, of Jermyn, PA. and formerly of Jersey City, NJ., died early Friday morning, June 3, 2005 at the Abington Manor, Clarks Summit, PA. She was the wife of the late Joseph C. Hampton, Sr., who died December 28, 1996.
Born March 2, 1919 in Jersey City, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Matilda Ruschman.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, PA. She was a housecleaner for many years in New Jersey and also a cook for a convent in Hoboken, New Jersey.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, her dog and cat.
She is survived by two daughters: Patricia Telep of Jermyn, PA. and Agnes Maiuro of Mahway, NJ.; one son: Joseph Hampton, Jr. of Newport News, VA.; two sisters: Louise Rutherford of Westwood, NJ. and Matilda Kurfehs of Seaside Heights, NJ; one step sister: Rita Oettinger of Palm Coast, FL.; four grandsons: Boris Telep, Joel Hampton, Joseph Telep and Edward Maiuro; two granddaughters: Rebecca Telep and Marie Maiuro; three Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces Nephews
She was preceded in death by one son: Thomas Hampton; one daughter: Irene Pavlick; one grandson: Salvatore Maiuro; one brother: Frederick Hampton
The funeral was held Monday, June 6, 2005 at 8:30 am from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Friends called Sunday, June 5, 2005 from 2-4 7-9 PM.
