Herman S. Weaver, 87, of Cedar Grove, NJ. and formerly of Washington Street, Carbondale, PA., died Thursday evening, February 18, 2010 at Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, NJ. He was the husband of the former Helen Ryan, who died February 17, 2009.
Born in Middletown, NY., he was the son of the late Ralph and Electa (Conklin) Weaver.
He had resided in West Orange, New Jersey for 40 years and after his retirement, he and his wife settled in Carbondale. They moved back to northern New Jersey five years ago to be closer to their family. He was a retired machinist having worked for Automatic Switch in Florham Park, NJ. He was a former member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, the General Jerome F. O'Malley American Legion, Post 221, Carbondale and the Ontario Fire Company, Middletown, NY. He was an Army veteran having served during World War II.
He is survived by one son: Thomas Weaver and wife Tricia of East Hanover, NJ.; one daughter: Debbie McGrew and husband Michael of Dearborn, MI.; three grandchildren, Ryan Noble, T.J. Weaver and Elizabeth Weaver; three great grandchildren: Dylan, Brianna and Isabell; two sisters: Rebecca Curto of Clifford, PA. and Katherine Duczeminski of Cuddebackville, NY.; Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son: Gerard Weaver; one grandson: Shawn Noble; five brothers: James Alfred, Frederick, Raymond, Robert and Jack Weaver; three sisters: Bernice Broas, Barbara Vandermark and Anna McGaw.
The funeral was held Monday, February 22, 2010 at 8:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor. Interment, with Military Honors by Simpson VFW Post 4712, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: T.J. Weaver and John Ryan.
