Helen Taugher, age 88, a resident of the Forest City Nursing Home and formerly of RD Nicholson, PA. died Wednesday morning, August 11, 2004 at the nursing home. She was the wife of the late James P. Taugher, Sr. who died November 24, 1989.
Born January 23, 1916 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna DeCavage.
She was a member of the Lenoxville United Methodist Church, Lenoxville, PA. and its Ladies Auxillary. She was also a member of the Lenoxville Seniors Center. Prior to her retirement she worked at Irenes Sportswear in Nicholson for 12 years
She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, New Jersey and loved spending time in her flower garden and doing crafts.
She is survived by one daughter: Janice and husband Robert Biggs of Endicott, NY.; one brother: John DeCavage of Forest City, PA.; special daughter-in-law: Ruth Taugher; three grandsons: Brian and wife Jill Lavin, James and wife Denise Lavin and Kenneth and wife Terri Taugher; Great Grandchildren; Step Grandchildren; Nieces Nephews
She was preceded in death by one son: James P. Taugher, Jr.; five brothers: Joseph, Charles, Michael, Adam and Anthony DeCavage; one sister: Minnie Page
The funeral was held Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 11:00 am in the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff and Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with the Rev. Linda Bryan, pastor of the Lenoxville United Methodist Church, officiating. Inurnment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.
Friends called Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until service time.
