Helen R. Barney, 74, of Carbondale, PA, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2025 in the emergency room at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was the wife of the late Gerald "Jerry" Barney, who died on May 5, 2019.

Born August 18, 1950 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Elsie Parker Agentovich.

Helen was a 1970 graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed watching online auctions and loved her lottery tickets. Helen will be fondly remembered as an outstanding cook and baker. She was a generous, kind and honest person who always saw the good in everyone she met.

She is survived by three sons: Gerald Barney and wife, Peggy of Kentucky, Robert Barney of Waymart, PA, and Jason Barney of Carbondale, PA; two daughters: Tanya Fagan of Florida and Stacy Skorets and companion, Robert Arthur of Carbondale, PA; six grandchildren: Stephan Barney, Kaitlyn Barney, Christopher Skorets, Piper Arthur, Joshua Arthur and Jonathan Barney; four great-grandchildren: Makaylee, Kelcie, Maya and Aurora; one sister: Sharon Loewenstein of Peckville, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Walter, Jr., Robert and Stanley Agentovich; and one sister: Rosemary Moore.

The funeral was held Friday, March 7, 2025 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Mosley, senior priest. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale, PA.

Pallbearers: Robert Barney, Stephan Barney, Thomas Moore, Robert Arthur, Thomas Bryant and Steven Oakley.

Viewing hours were held Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 5-8 p.m.
