Obituary

Hector Montalvo, age 69, of Carbondale, PA, died Monday afternoon, February 3, 2014 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was the husband of the late Dolores Dorsch. Born January 8, 1945 in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Angelo and Isabelle Gary-Garcia Montalvo. Hector was an Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War and worked in the construction business as a general foreman and supervisor for various companies in New York. He owned and operated Barrier Free Construction Company in Central Islip, NY for many years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, driving his Dodge Charger, spending time with his friends at the veteran hospital, trips to the casino and most of all his love and devotion to his family. He is survived by three sons: Edward Montalvo and wife Janine of West Islip, NY, Emanuel Montalvo of Medford, NY and John Montalvo of Carbondale, PA; one daughter: Christine Lucas and husband Paul of Carbondale, PA; two sisters: Margaret and Aurora Montalvo; eight grandchildren: Brittany, Edward, Thomas, Tyler, Mikayla, Bryanne, Olivia and Avery; two great grandchildren: Riley and Jackson; four brothers: Wilfredo, Edward, Frank and Samuel Montalvo. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph, David ans Felix Montalvo. A viewing and memorial service was held Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Claude R. Boyd/Spencer Funeral Home, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Fitzgerald. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
