Orange Civic Leader and Businesswoman Harriete M. Carbone was born December 16, 1937 to Max and Kathryn (Brand) Grossman in Newark, NJ. She passed away peacefully in Mayfield, PA, on August 11, 2023, laughing and joking until her very last breath.
A long-time resident of Orange, Harriete was a realtor, an accountant, and owned numerous bars throughout her lifetime: Brady's Bunch, the Operating Room, the Recovery Room, Top Shelf, and the Rubicon, to name a few. Harriette's company, H.M. Carbone & Co, provided tax preparation as well as residential and commercial real estate sales for over 30 years.
Harriete was a political activist, serving on numerous civic boards and advocating for women's rights and women's health issues through the Women's Health Coalition. She was a candidate for Mayor of West Orange in the 1980s. She served numerous terms on the Orange Chamber of Commerce as Secretary and as Vice President of the New Jersey Tavern Owner's association. She was an avid animal lover and helped provide homes for hundreds of abandoned and neglected animals over her lifetime.
She is survived by her daughter, Laurie, daughter-in-law, Marion, faithful caregiver, Megan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
