Obituary

Harriet J. Snow, 65, of Carbondale, PA and formerly of Hop Bottom, PA, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Forest City Nursing Center, Forest City, PA. She was the wife of the late Joseph D. Snow. Born September 13, 1950 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Alberta Mosher Canfield. Harriet was a member of the Revival Baptist Church in Scranton, PA. She worked private duty as a nurses aid for 28 years and also enjoyed living and working on the farm. Her greatest joy in life was being with children. Over the years, she mentored numerous children as a leader with the Girl Scouts and 4-H Club. Harriet was also a dedicated foster parent to many children. She was a generous and kind wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed. She is survived by three children: Brenda Serafini and husband Dave of Olyphant, Scott Rickert and wife Kerry of Hop Bottom and Francis Maddage and wife Gloria of Carbondale; 10 grandchildren: Amanda Donley and husband Josh of Virginia, Natilie Serafini of Olyphant, PA, Frances Maddage of Carbondale, PA, Samantha Rickert of Hop Bottom, PA, Kaitlin Rickert of Hop Bottom, PA, Ryan Phillips and wife Chyann of Jermyn, PA, David Serafini and wife Olga of Olyphant, PA, Joseph Maddage of Carbondale, PA, Elliott Maddage of Carbondale, PA and Damian Rickert of Hop Bottom, PA; 8 great grandchildren: Olivia Donely, Connor Donely, Hunter Donely, Nathan Phillips, Lucas Phillips, Michael Serafini, Alexandria Serafini and David Durko; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson: Francis Maddage; a brother: Eugene Canfield; two sisters: Florence Rickert and Virginia Burns. A memorial service was held Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. from the Revival Baptist Church, 2020 N. Main Avenue, Scranton, officiated by Rev. Randy Bloem, pastor. Arrangements were entrusted to Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA. Memorial Service 5:00 pm Sunday, November 22, 2015 Revival Baptist Church 2020 N.
