Harold W. Cummings, age 83, of Waymart, PA. and formerly of 8th Avenue, Carbondale, PA., died Tuesday evening, July 17, 2012 at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA. His wife was the former Louise A. Robinson who died February 14, 2012. They were married on November 8, 1958.
Born July 5, 1929 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Peter and Lucille (Healy) Cummings.
He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and worked for over 50 years at Chamberlain Ammunition Plant, Scranton before his retirement. Harold had a love for the outdoors, enjoyed gardening, shooting guns and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by four sons: John Cummings of Waymart, PA., Paul Cummings of Carbondale, PA., James Cummings of South Canaan, PA. and Craig Cummings of Wilkes-Barre, PA.; six grandchildren: John, Stacey, Samantha, Sharlene, Jared and Shauna Cummings; one great grandson: Khamron Harper; one sister: Lucille Toolan of Greenfield Township, PA.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son: Harold Cummings.
The funeral was held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:30 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, associate pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA.
Pallbearers: Tim Toolan, Rob Karmonick, Jeremy Hayden, Jared Cummings, John Cummings, Jr. and Carl Wigfall. Friends called Friday, July 20, 2012 from 5-8 PM.
