Obituary

Harlene Beebe Maddage, 77, of Waymart, PA, died Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after a fall at her home. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Maddage who she shared 34 years with. Born June 26, 1944 in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Grace Waters Genung. Harlene was a graduate of Blue Ridge High School in New Milford, and a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Elmira, NY. She had been employed as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale, and later retired in 2003 from Farview State Hospital, Waymart, after 18 years of service. In retirement she and Joe enjoyed spending winters at their home in Biloxi, MS. Harlene was an animal lover who cared for many different types of pets over the years but was especially fond of her horses. She will be missed by her faithful companion, Dazy. Harlene's greatest legacy will be her family whom she was completely devoted to. She is survived by four children: Neal Beebe of Knoxville, TN, Karen Barlow and husband, Charles of Jermyn, PA, John Beebe and wife, Melissa of Biloxi, MI, and Margaret Drouse and husband, Jason of Avoca, PA; a step-son: Chris Maddage and wife, Heather of Smyrna, DE; four grandchildren: Zachary Veina, Madison Barlow, Nathan Drouse and Evelynn Drouse; six step-grandchildren: Giana Domiano, Noah and Spencer Maddage, Christian, Matthew and Zachary Cerone. The funeral was held Saturday, December 18, 2021 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Arun Lakra, assistant pastor. Cremation followed. Interment, South Gibson Cemetery, South Gibson, PA. Pallbeaers: Richard Hettes, George Waters, Dolan Maddage, Georgie Waters and Corey Ziliatis. Viewing hours were held Friday, December 17, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. Visitation at Funeral Home 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, December 17, 2021 Carmine J. & Louis C.
