Obituary

Gregory A. Stackhouse, 67, Carbondale, PA, died Thursday morning, October 3, 2024 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after a brief illness.

Born August 16, 1957 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Millard and Annabelle Kilmer Stackhouse.

Greg was a 1975 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and later worked for Stephens Bros. Dairy in Carbondale, before becoming disabled from an accident. In his younger days he enjoyed bowling. Later in life he had a passion for model trains and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. He and Clare operated Clarabelle Ceramics for many years. Greg adored his nieces and nephews and was very proud of their many accomplishments.

He is survived by his companion of 40 years, Clare Scavo of Carbondale, PA; one sister: Priscilla Bilski and husband, Paul of Carbondale, PA; three brothers: Guy Stackhouse and wife, Barbara of Vandling, PA, Robert Stackhouse and wife, Nancy of Tunkhannock, PA, and David Stackhouse of Forest City, PA; his in-laws: Linda Striefsky and husband, Paul of Somers Point, NJ and Susan Palmiero and husband, James of Greenfield Township, PA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by a niece: Jennifer Stackhouse Browning; and a nephew: Robert Stackhouse, Jr.

Private funeral services were held from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA, with Rev. Seth Wasnock, pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale, PA, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Pallbearers: Tim Bilski, William Bilski, David Stackhouse, Mickey Stackhouse, Paul Striefsky, Joseph Wagner, Joseph Cowan and Matthew Cowan.
