Glen Richard Kapschull, 88, formerly of Carbondale, PA., died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, PA.
Born September 7, 1923 in Long Beach, CA., he was the son of the late Charles and Laura Kapschull.
He was raised in Deerfield, Illinois and was a graduate of Highland Park High School and Onarga Military Academy. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and had been employed for 20 years by the New York City Transit Authority. Upon moving to Scranton, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for Dale Dale Properties.
Known to everyone as Pop, and the light in so many lives, he was one of a kind and will be truly missed. In addition to spending time with his children and grandchildren he also loved the NY Giants and working in his garden.
He is survived by eleven children: Jarrod Kapschull and wife Juli of Scranton, PA., Jennifer Naro and husband Angelo of Dunmore, PA., Bobbielee Kapschull and husband Gregory Powell of Taylor, PA., Billiejo Brzenski of Dunmore, PA., Michelle Hunter and husband Todd of Bloomsburg, PA., Kevin Kapschull of Scranton, PA., Laura Brink and husband Randy of Honesdale, PA., William Kapschull and wife Mary of Clarks Summit, PA., Charles Kapshcull and wife Cathy of Waymart, PA., Richard Kapschull and wife Donna of Simpson, PA. and Kay Dulay and husband Jerry of Honesdale, PA. and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his long time companion: Lorraine DeLaunay; one sister: Barbara; one brother: Charles.
The funeral was held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 7:00 PM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, PA., with his grandson, Rev. Tim Kapschull, officiating. As per Glen's request, his ashes were buried at sea by the US Navy. Friends called Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 4-7 PM.
