Geraldine M. McCawley, 82, of Carbondale, PA., died Monday afternoon, May 31, 2010 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale.
Born August 15, 1927 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Leo T. and Geraldine (Flannery) McCawley, Sr.
She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale and Marywood College, Scranton. She received her master's degree in elementary education from the University of Scranton. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for 50 years in the business office at Farview State Hospital in Waymart, PA. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.
She is survived by five nieces and nephews: Kathleen McCawley of Portsmouth, VA., Neal McCawley of Vienna, VA., James L. McCawley and wife Diane of Palmerton, PA., Joseph M. McCawley and wife Ayako of Chino, CA. and Laura McCawley-Magel and husband Frank of Mechanicsburg, PA.; five grand nieces: Lina, Sala, Michelle, Leeann and Kaitlin; one sister-in-law: Ann K. McCawley of Mechanicsburg, PA.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Leo T. McCawley, a prominent Susquehanna funeral director.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale. Interment, parish cemetery, Carbondale.
Friends called Friday, June 4, 2010 from 5-7 PM and Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM.
