Obituary

Gerald “Jerry” Tolerico, 73, of Clifford, died Monday, August 3, 2026 surrounded by his loving family at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Wilkes-Barre, after a brief illness.

Born October 20, 1952, in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Ferentine Tolerico and was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale. Jerry worked at RCA Thompson Consumer Electronics in Dunmore for 29 years and later retired from General Dynamics in Eynon. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and living in the country. Jerry was a Harley Davidson enthusiast who relished the thrill of riding the open roads. He was an ardent fan of NASCAR and the New England Patriots. And he loved his pup, Rocky.

Jerry will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father and poppy who was extremely proud of his grandchildren's accomplishments. He was deeply supportive of their activities and never missed any of their events. His family will cherish the fond memories of him and his grandchildren having water gun fights at the pool, his love of gadgets, the annual canning of pickles and hot peppers, spending time in his happy place – the garage, and his mischievous chuckle. He was also deeply loyal to his friends and family, especially his brother Sar during his illness.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mary Rose; a daughter: Lisa Rovinsky and husband Peter; three step-children: Maura Smith and husband Shawn, Deana Kivlin and fiancé Robert Baker, and Michael Kivlin; seven grandchildren: Zachary and fiancée, Brooke Harvey, Mia Rose and Noah Rovinsky; Awnshae, Taliyah, Isiah and Erilyn Smith; a great-granddaughter: Scarlett Rovinsky; his sisters-in-law: Helen Tolerico, Karen Tolerico, Noelle Snyder and husband Thomas; his brothers-in-law: Antonio Berardi and fiancée Renee Gish, Lawrence Royce, and Louis Berardi; two nieces: Taryn Tolerico and Karli Tolerico; nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Jr. and Sar Tolerico and his sister-in-law, Joann Royce.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, August 10, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 11, 2026 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale.
