IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald P.
Pfahl
November 4, 1940 – January 11, 2023
Gerald P. "Gerry" Pfahl, 82, of Clifford Township, PA, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Judy Ferry.
Born November 4, 1940 in Bellmore, NY, he was the son of the late Gustave and Emmy Diesler Pfahl.
He served for six years with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. However, trucking was in his blood and he became a Teamsters Union truck driver and worked for Associated Transport and Consolidated Freight Ways. When the CF Pocono terminal closed, he moved to Mississippi where he worked until retirement. He truly enjoyed driving truck and the stories he could spin from the adventures he found on the road were never ending. We also can't forget the countless treasures he found along the roadside that he would stop to collect. When the doors shut to Consolidated Freight Ways and he came back to Pennsylvania, he refused to sit still and idle away his time in retirement. He was a busy man with many projects, as well as picking up a job cleaning buses for Lynch and eventually becoming a groundskeeper for the Elkview Country Club.
As a young boy moving from Long Island to rural Pennsylvania, farming had been a way of life which he carried over for most of his adult life. He would try anything. He raised everything from bees, bunnies, chickens, pigs, ducks, geese and even earthworms. There were also the innumerable barn cats that he had fostered and cared for over the years. There isn't a child or grandchild that hasn't had to help during the haying season. He even managed to convince his family that joining in would be fun as well. As with anything he did, he did a job and made sure it was done well. From general contracting to construction or mechanics, he did it all.
Gerry will be fondly remembered for his prolific storytelling as well as his green thumb that produced a bountiful vegetable garden year after year. Gerry had an innate ability to make friends wherever he went. There are no strangers in his world and anyone who met him was sure to walk away with a smile. Gerry's greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his four children: Lynette Andzulis and husband, Tom, Jerry Pfahl and wife, Julie, Richard Pfahl and wife, Susan, and Lisa Pfahl; ten grandchildren: Andrew (Ashley), Nick (Sam), Sean (Sophie), Jake, Matthew (Krysten), Joshua (Chelsea), Bradley (Alyssa), Cheyenne (Nick), Robert (Kessla) and Michelle (Greg); ten great-grandchildren; one brother: Dennis Pfahl and wife, Lee; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Home Health and Hospice nurses and staff for their kind and compassionate care.
