Obituary

George R. McAllister, 75, of Glenville, NY., died suddenly Thursday, May 21, 2009 at home. He was the husband of the former Charlotte Piccotti. They were married February 14, 1956 in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Born November 30, 1933 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late James and Edna Blickens McAllister.He attended the Benjamin Franklin High School and then entered the Navy having served in the Korean War. He worked as an electrician for the coal mines, Singer Sewing machines and as a carpenter for Farview State Hospital in Waymart before moving to Scotia, New York in 1972. He later worked for Piccotti Construction Company in Schenectady, New York for several years out of Operating Engineers Local 106. He was a maintenance supervisor for the J.C. Penney store in Clifton Park, New York prior to his retirement. He was always tinkering with small engines be it a snow blower, lawnmower whether his or a neighbors. Always one to help others, George had an affinity to make people laugh. His hobby was collecting hats of all types. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and he will be missed dearly by those who knew him. He is survived by one son: George McAllister, Jr. of Ballston Lake, NY.; two daughters: Gail Redick of Albany, NY, Carrie Maloney and husband David of Niskayuna, NY.; six grandchildren: Karli, Shannon and Elise McAllister, Cari Redick, Jory and Bethany Maloney; one great grandson: Jayden Brockington; his twin brother: Lewis McAllister and wife Marianne of Binghamton, NY.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by two brothers: Gaylord and James McAllister.The funeral was held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment following cremation took place at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: David Maloney, Russell Piccotti, Jr., Robert Narcavage, Jr., Tim Narcavage, Louis Narcavage, Vincente Fiero, David Hachan and Richard Hachan. Friends called Monday, May 25, 2009 from 3-6 PM.
