George E. Appleman, age 64, of Nicholson, PA., died unexpectedly Monday evening, January 28, 2008 at the emergency room in the Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock, PA. His wife was the late Audrey E. Gramps, who died June 29, 2007. Born July 10, 1943 in Nicholson, PA., he was the son of the late Cecil and Myrtle (Alden) Appleman. He was the owner and operator of Appleman Stone Supply in Nicholson and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Nicholson and the Nicholson Masonic Lodge, Post 438 where he served as past master. He is survived by two daughters: Deborah Decker and husband Jerry of New Milford, PA. and Gloria Steele of Nicholson, PA.; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; Several nieces nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother: Thomas Appleman; one sister: Norma Armstrong. A memorial service was held Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church, State Street, Nicholson, PA., with the Rev. Margaret Hartman, pastor, officiating. Cremation took place from the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Arrangements were entrusted under the care of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA.
