Obituary

Gemma A. Perri, 83, of Carbondale, PA., died Monday morning, May 12, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Ocean View, DE., after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Joseph Perri who died November 2, 1978. Born January 23, 1925 in Dunmore, PA., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Nocilla) DeAngelo. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale and was devoted to St. Ann. She faithfully attended mass at the Basilica every Monday. She was a retired seamstress having worked in the local garment industry and assisted her husband in the operation of their business Perri Building Materials of Carbondale. She also enjoyed spending time at the Carbondale Senior Center. Everyone will surly miss seeing Gemma on her walks through the city of Carbondale. She loved and adored her great granddaughter and spent many of her final days with her. She is survived by two daughters: Angela Wallace and husband Tom of Fairfax, VA., and Mary Roche and husband Bob of Ocean View, DE.; two Grandsons: Thomas Wallace and wife Kelly Healey Wallace of Sterling, VA. and Joseph Wallace and wife Stefanie of Rockville, MD.; one great granddaughter: Kyleigh Wallace; one sister: Sarah Napolitano of Smyrna, DE.; Several Nieces Nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Samuel, Joseph and Pat DeAngelo; three sisters: Theresa Kupinsky, Mary DeAngelo and Jenny DeNaples. The funeral was held Friday, May 16, 2008 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by the Rev. Russell E. Motsay, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Carbondale. Pallbearers: Thomas and Joseph Wallace-Grandsons and Dominick and James Napolitano-Nephews.
